Our blog started as a Travelog (my wife Sarah and I followed The Dead and Phish in an RV summer of 2004) - but now it is Mr. Mike's blog about life and that sort of thing. A working class family man - trying to start our own hippie business and managing telemarketters all the while.

Sunday Morning

Well, it's been awhile since I've written - and there has been some wild times going on - first of all 10,000 Lakes Festival in Detroit Lakes MN - this festival was great and we had a blast. We were camping up in the woods for 4 days and there was some of my favorite bands playing. I got pretty messed up all 4 days and drank completely too much. Coors lights were $4 a pop in the concert ground and we spent somewhere over $100 bucks - we were able to sneak a bunch of beer in for the first 3 nights - but the last night with Les and Trey - they caught us sneaking in the last of our beer and we bought alot down in the concert. My favorite musical moments of the weekend -in no particular order - were Les, Buckethead, Gabby La La, G Love, Trey, Signal Path, STS9, DSO, Jazz Mandolin, and I even enjoyed WSP 2nd night. I have to confess I am not the hugest Widespread fan. And I really miss Phish. - Also - getting very sick of all the Trey hating going on out there - but I don't think I will get into all of that right now - all I have to say is that nobody was bitching all the years Trey and Phish led us all over this great land.
I celebrated my birthday over 10,000 Lakes even though it was a week before my actual birthday - I had to work day before and day after my bday - so the actual day of was pretty much uneventful - Sarah had to work a little on the day of - and then she came home and made me a birthday dinner and we watched a movie. What Dreams to Come to be precise and boy it looked nice on the big tv... Since then I have been working hard - we lost two managers since my vacation - and the work load has increased a bit - it's getting kind of old - i am really thinking hard about cutting my dread locks off and taking a job as a mortgage loan officer. now that we are entering the 30's it may be time to reevalute. 6 months to make a decision - the Florida vacation in February.
Friday night we went to the Allman Brothers Band at a casino amphitheater about 60 miles from here - Jackpot Junction - the president of our company sent my wife and I up there as a thank you for all the hard work - i put about 15 GB of music on his Ipod in 1 week before he flew to France - i have been downloading all kinds of shows from the bluegrassbox and putting his extensive studio cd collection on it. He also bought me my own 60 GB Ipod to play around with too... The Allman's were awesome, Warren wasn't there - but Jack Pearson sat in and rocked hard - also there was a sax player - we ran into two old friends that had won tix off the radio - beers were only 3.50 here and we only spent 60.00 at the show - I actually drank so much i threw up - oops - and know I am entering a period of sobriety - time to put the brakes on a bit - we'll see how long it lasts. The old replace booze with excercise trick - let's go for a month - wish me luck.....
